Journey to Black Belt: Beginner Phase

"Today we are not in pursuit of perfection but progress." This is the beginning phase of a Victory Karate student's path to Black Belt. During these nine months, instructors focus on building the student up within.

A bond of mutual respect and trust forms — the foundation everything else builds upon. To earn a Black Belt, students must first believe they can achieve it.

The Philosophy of Beginning Training

Our teaching philosophy in these ranks centers on encouragement and praise. We build the confidence needed to pursue and achieve any goal in life. Technical mastery isn't even a consideration at this point.

Every new movement mastered, every stripe earned, every belt test passed — each success builds a "yes I can" attitude. This mindset becomes essential when students move into intermediate ranks where demands increase significantly.

Mental Requirements

Students must demonstrate dedication through attending class twice weekly plus practicing 15 minutes at home two other days. Confidence shows through positive self-attitude and belief in oneself.
